Upcoming Meetings

Sensory Sensory Sensory!!

Join us at the Hyde Park Library for an informative meeting all about sensory processing and integration. This helpful meeting will be held on Monday, April 12th at 6:30pm and will be lead by Katherine Eingle, M.S., OTR/L and Megan Chadwick, M.S. OTR/L, two amazing Occupational Therapists helping kids every day at the Aaron W. Perlman Center at Children’s Hospital.

Have you heard about sensory processing or integration but are not really sure what it means? This topic will be addressed by two pediatric occupational therapists, Megan and Katherine, who will provide an overview of what sensory processing is and how it affects you and your child. There are many types of sensory input, and each person processes and responds to these inputs differently. The way we process and respond to sensory input can significantly impact functioning in every day life. It can affect everything from your alertness, attention, ability to focus, coordination, and much more. Join us for a meeting that could help your child in ways you never knew they needed help with. Come ready to learn and bring your questions!

Please RSVP to Trisha. Can’t wait to see everyone there as we learn more ways to help our kids live a happier, more alert, and focused life.

Timmy’s Bike Trail Bunch

Timmy Clawson and his mom, Amy have put together “Timmy’s Bike Trail Bunch” for us. This great celebration of the springtime weather will be held on Thursday, May 20th at 6pm at the Loveland Bike Trail. All bikes, wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, and any other means of having fun are welcome for a fun day with other families that know exactly where you’re coming from. There is a playground and an Icee Stand at the park to enjoy as well. We encourage any other parents that would like to facilitate a support group meeting as Timmy’s family has done to do so. This can be a very fun event for your family to put together. Just let me know if you’re interested.

Therapeutic Options

This is going to be a great opporunity for all local families. At this meeting we will have a variety of different therapeutic options for families to explore. We will have someone representing and explaining intensive therapy, horseback therapy, aquatic therapy, recreational therapy, etc. Come out and explore your options of therapy for your child. Tentatively scheduled for June 2010.

Cincinnati Red’s Game

On Saturday, June 26 we will head to the ballpark to watch our Cincinnati Red’s play the Cleveland Indian’s.  The game starts at 7:10. We have done this in the past and had a great time!! It’s nice to get together as one to attend a local sport and just enjoy each other’s company. Bring all your friends and family and come on out for some good times, cheers, hot dogs, and laughter. Please RSVP as soon as you have decided if you’re able to join us and we will discuss prices and seating based on interest.

Open Discussion

Come join us in July for a time to sit back, relax, and talk with people who really get it, people who walk in your shoes every single day. At this ‘open discussion’ meeting we will be coming together with no boundaries of discussion.  Everyone can come with their goals, dreams, hopes, triumphs, disappointments, and frustrations. We will all be there to talk as a group, listen to each other, rejoice with each other, and give advice when needed. The goal of this meeting is to create a more united support group and create more personal friendships. Come join us and stop feeling like you’re alone in this journey with cerebral palsy!
